
A conference organised by the Castle Studies Group to be held at the Society of Antiquaries will honour Derek Renn FSA, author of Norman Castles in Britain (1969/1973), and launch a Festschrift, Castles: History, Archaeology, Landscape and Architecture, edited by Neil Guy FSA. Speakers include Oliver Creighton FSA, Bob Higham FSA, Brian Kerr FSA, Neil Ludlow FSA and Pamela Marshall FSA.
The annual Surrey Historic Environment Research Conference will be held in Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall this year and will be followed at 16.00 by the Society AGM. A keynote speaker will be Julian Richards on Stonehenge and a programme based largely on prehistoric topics is now complete. A booking form is attached.

CBA South East, in conjunction with Surrey Archaeological Society, will be holding its annual conference in Chertsey this year. The programme is being developed to bring the topics discussed at SHERF 2017 into the broader regional and national context.

This winter’s study day will take place in the historic market town of Farnham at the Museum's Garden Gallery, followed by a walk through town and up to the castle in the afternoon.
The theme of this 7th annual symposium is early medieval London. It aims to be of interest to both specialists and non-specialists, and draws upon a wide range of archaeological, historical and literary expertise.
