A World Heritage Thematic Study on the Roman Frontiers. 

Encircling the Mediterranean Sea, the Roman Frontier is the single largest monument surviving from the Roman World. Dr Marinus Rien Polak, Radboud University Nijmegmen will present case studies on this thematic study.

The 1918 flu pandemic was a lethal outbreak of influenza which infected 500 million people around the world, including remote Pacific islands and the Arctic, and resulted in the deaths of 50 to 100 million (three to five percent of the world's population) making it one of the deadliest natural disasters in human history. It killed the young and not the old, and was spread around the world by troops returning home after the First World War.

A conference organised by the Castle Studies Group to be held at the Society of Antiquaries will honour Derek Renn FSA, author of Norman Castles in Britain (1969/1973), and launch a Festschrift, Castles: History, Archaeology, Landscape and Architecture, edited by Neil Guy FSA. Speakers include Oliver Creighton FSA, Bob Higham FSA, Brian Kerr FSA, Neil Ludlow FSA and Pamela Marshall FSA.

Be prepared with gas mask training and air raid drill, learn what happened after a bomb fell, discover how to put out one of the fire bombs that were dropped in their tens of thousands on Epsom during the war. Try to play fag cards like wartime children, discover the size of the sweet ration, and master a paper puzzle to find the hidden pig! Write a postcard home after being evacuated.

The Bourne Hall Museum is introducing a new children's club. 

In partnership with Buddingartists we are starting a new CATS club. Craft, Art, Technology and Science the children learn some science and technology and use art and craft skills to make something. There are two sessions in which you can make your own winged dragon and a third session were you can make a heart shaped papier mache bowl.

Dragons 9.45 to 11.45am and 11.45 to 1.15pm and bowels 2pm to 3.30pm

Each session is £7 per child (£1 discount for two children)

The Annual South East Industrial history conference will be hosted by Berkshire Industrial Archaeology Group in Windsor.

This is a repeat session by popular demand of the dayschool held in January which was oversubscribed. 

Led by Krystyna Truscoe (University of Reading) this course examines the use of lidar.

Professor Sir Barry Cunliffe will be speaking about his book On The Ocean: The Mediterranean and the Atlantic from Prehistory to AD 1500. This event will take place in Senate House, London and is free to all with no need to book. There will be a wine reception after the talk.
